Red Feather Lodge Ambiance

Family-owned and operated since the 1960s, Red Feather Lodge has long been a handy option for Grand Canyon stay that doesn’t come with the price tag of staying in the park itself. It’s within a mere mile of the South Rim entrance and about a 15 minute drive from Grand Canyon Village Visitor Center and its many resources. It’s a convenient and cozy lodging option with excellent customer service and is a smart choice for traveling families.

Red Feather Lodge combines a motel and a hotel with its two different buildings. The motel was the original construction at mid-century, while the hotel was added much later. The overall vibe is rustic without being dated, consonant with many of the hotels in and around the Grand Canyon region that aspire to an American Southwest aesthetic amidst older construction.

Red Feather Lodge Rooms

As mentioned above, Red Feather Lodge is comprised of two distinct buildings, constructed at different times. The hotel portion near the front of the complex is more modern and more spacious, but both sections are comfortable and convenient. All together, there are 260 available rooms, including two suites for extended stay guests.

The motel portion is two stories tall, featuring exterior access. Rooms are available with either two queen beds or one king bed, able to accommodate up to four guests. Rooms also provide basic amenities such as a clock radio, telephone, TV, in-room coffee maker, and hair dryer. Motel rooms are also pet-friendly, subject to a modest pet deposit. It is also possible to reserve smoking rooms exclusively in the motel portion of Red Feather Lodge. Rooms here have been recently renovated.

The hotel portion is of newer construction, with four stories featuring interior corridors and elevators. Available rooms include either two queen-sized beds or one king-sized bed, fitting up to five guests. Amenities here are a bit more extensive, including everything available in the motel rooms as well as a refrigerator and microwave (the latter in king rooms only). There is free wi-fi in all guest rooms in both portions.

Rooms in both sections are decorated with a Southwestern vibe, featuring warm colors with palates of red, brown, and gold predominating. Furniture is constructed of a warm wood, with bedding in similar colors. The beds themselves are cozy and soft, with guests reporting a peaceful night’s sleep. Featured artwork focuses on the Grand Canyon and its many natural wonders.

There are also two available suites for extended stay guests. One is located in each half of the lodging, but both feature essentially the same amenities. The motel one-room suite is perhaps the best for those staying a longer time, as it offers a kitchenette in addition to a microwave and refrigerator. The hotel two-room suite offers only a microwave and refrigerator. Both suites include a king-sized bed, and free cable TV and wi-fi.
