Maverick Helicopters is one of the newer tour companies in the business, launching in 1995—and they’re dedicated to maintaining a fleet of the newest, top-of-the-line helicopters available. Their current fleet of helicopters are the quietest and most eco-friendly available, specially designed to offer more room for sightseeing and luxury seating. In addition, the Maverick team is committed to individualized customer service. Tours are meant to be interactive: the pilot provides personalized narration through individual headsets, and guests are encouraged to ask questions and participate.

In addition to personal service, Maverick Helicopters is committed to safety while flying upwards of 225,000 passengers every year, their commitment seems to be paying off! The company holds the top safety record of any aviation tourism company in the world. Maverick was also granted the prestigious FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Diamond Award for excellence in aircraft maintenance and training. To fly and be accommodated, you will need to have a collapsible wheelchair with removable wheels. You must also be accompanied by someone who can assist you with boarding and disembarking the aircraft. All you have to do sit back and relax, comfortable and secure, while enjoying some of the most spectacular views the country has to offer.

Maverick Helicopter Tours Features & Amenities (in most tours):

  • Departure from Maverick’s convenient Las Vegas terminal, including complimentary pickup and drop-off at hotels within a 5-mile radius
  • Luxury champagne toast before takeoff or during a Grand Canyon landing
  • ECO-star helicopters offering a 23% larger cabin than standard models, luxury theater-style seats, unparalleled wraparound windows, and noise reduction
  • Maverick’s helicopters are able to fly 1 mile farther into the Canyon than other operators and descend 3,500 ft on landing tours to a private landing bluff.
  • Optional DVD recordings of your flight (including video from multiple exterior-mounted cameras and audio from your pilot’s custom tour) are available for purchase
  • Customized tour narration delivered by your pilot with individual headsets
  • Maverick tours are operational year round, 365 days per year!

Maverick Helicopter Tours Notes and Things to Improve:

  • Maverick is extremely busy, so it’s best to book your tour ahead of time: if you wait until your arrival in Las Vegas, it’s very likely that all tours will be sold out
  • Since helicopters have a strict weight limit, passengers and their carry-ons (i.e camera bag, purses and backpacks) are weighed before departure; guests over the weight limit (300lbs) will be charged for an additional seat. To avoid hassle, know your weight beforehand.
  • Maverick Helicopters has a 48-hour cancellation policy. You have up until 48 hours before your flight departure to make any changes or cancellations. Changes or cancellations are not permitted within 48 hours of your flight departure. No-shows will be charged in full with no refunds—so be sure to confirm the date and time of your tour with all party members and show up early, just in case!
  • Please note that all passengers must carry government ID. Children younger than 2 years old will need to show a birth certificate.

Hi Gary. The Silver Cloud does not go that far into the canyon. It’s really designed for the person who does not have a lot of time on their hands. You get some great views of the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead on the way and get to the western edge of the Grand Canyon before heading back for a Vegas Strip flyover.

I’m staying at Caesars Palace on 27&28 July with my two sons (16&17) we’d like to see the south rim, the strip, Hoover dam and maybe touch down in the GC?
Do you have a trip that does all that? We should have about 8 hours if we leave our hotel around 8am on July 28th, ideally no more than about $500ea

Hi Tony, The south rim is pretty far away from Vegas. Most of the tours go to the West Rim. If you want to go to the South Rim, I would suggest Maverick Airlines Grand Canyon Combo Tour. It’s an airplane ride to the South Rim Airport, a helicopter tour of the South Rim are then spend the rest of the day at the South Rim before getting back on the place to Vegas. If you are content going to the West Rim, I would suggest the Indian Territory Tour. It does not go as far as the South Rim but it lands at the bottom of the West Rim. You also go there via helicopter so you get better views of the Hoover Dam and a flyover the Vegas Strip.

Sorry Tony, I just noticed your budget. The Indian Territory Tour is a bit more than that. Another west rim tour to think about is the Mustang Helicopters Free Spirit Tour. If you

Hi Candy, the place where you land for about half an hour has no facilities. There is a clean bathroom at the terminal right next to the departure door. Have a great trip. The Wind Dancer is one of my favorites!

Does the DVD Video offered include views of us passengers walking on the Canyon floor during our stop there? We have a special family event that I would like to video.

The camera is fixed to the outside of the helicopter so it only records your flight. I’d suggest bringing your own video camera. Most cameras have a pretty good video function. I’d also suggest a pocket sized tripod like a Gorilla Pod.

The only place there is no bathroom is on the helicopter itself. There are bathrooms at the Skywalk and in the terminal right next to the departure gate.

On Maverick Helicopter tours, the weight limit is 300lbs. If you are over that, you will likely have to buy more than one seat.
