Pink Jeep Tours, Grand Canyon

Tourists who want to see the Grand Canyon’s most incredible overlooks like never before should definitely consider checking out Pink Jeep Tours! Sure, you could drive around the rim of the Grand Canyon yourself (with the exception of their Grand Hiking Tour, Pink Jeep tours cannot descend into the Canyon), but you’d miss out on learning about the Canyon’s fascinating history, geology, ecology, and more from some of the most highly trained and passionate tour guides in the industry. Your guide will ensure that you don’t miss anything, describing surrounding vistas as part of an irresistibly compelling story. Pink Jeep Tours are perfect for lifelong learners—families, friends, couples, and individuals looking to participate in a small-group tour experience. You can even book private tours (as long as your party has 9 or more people—Pink Jeep tries to fill vehicles in order to reduce their carbon footprint) for family reunions, corporate retreats, and even weddings!

Pink Jeep Tours was founded in Sedona, AZ in 1960, meaning that they’ve been operational for over 50 years! Today, they transport over 300,000 passengers each year from four different locations: in addition to their original Sedona headquarters, they have bases in Scottsdale, AZ, Las Vegas, and even Tusayan—just outside the Grand Canyon National Park’s entrance. Pink Jeep Tours pride themselves on two main components that set them apart from other ground tour companies. First, their incredible tour guides—all of whom are certified in first aid, CPR, and the rigorous Smith System Driver Training program; some of whom have completed Certified Interpretive Guide training and some of whom are multilingual. Second, their iconic pink Jeeps—which, it turns out, are much more than just a Jeep! These Jeep Wranglers are purchased new, then entirely rebuilt (over 9 weeks!) to create a touring vehicle of exceptional comfort: adding extra room for passengers and a superior suspension system to minimize bumps along the edge of the Canyon.

Pink Jeep Tours’ combination of exceptionally trained drivers and specially designed vehicles allows them to bring your farther along the edge of the Canyon’s South Rim than the National Park’s shuttle service can go, giving you the chance to explore some of the most unique, beautiful, and rarely seen lookout points the South Rim has to offer.

Pink Jeep Features and Amenities (included in most tours):

  • Complimentary pickup from your Tusayan hotel (*when departing from the Grand Canyon location)
  • Complimentary IMAX movie: “Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets”! (*when departing from the Grand Canyon location)
  • Custom, comfort-designed Jeep Wranglers with extra room and exceptional suspension. Vehicles can be closed and climate controlled on your way to the Canyon, or opened to allow the best sights (and sounds, and smells!) possible while exploring the Rim.
  • Tours personally narrated by expert tour guides passionate about the Grand Canyon and trained in Interpretive Touring: questions and interactions between passengers and guide are highly encouraged!
  • Several tour guides are multilingual (available languages include Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Italian, and Portuguese)
  • Rain ponchos included in each Jeep in case of unexpected inclement weather
  • Pink Jeep Tours run year round: departures begin at 8:15 in winter and 7:15 during the rest of the year

Notes and Things to Improve:

  • Please note that Pink Jeep tours do not drive into the Canyon, as there are no roads available; however, if you choose the Grand Hike Tour (for more athletically included sightseers), you can go down below the Rim
  • Food is not included on most Pink Jeep Tours; however, passengers are welcome to bring lunch or snacks—and it’s definitely a good idea to bring lots of water! (Note, though, that alcoholic beverages or items in glass containers are not allowed on the tours for safety reasons)
  • If you have to cancel your tour, please do so at least 48 hours before departure: otherwise you’ll be charged the full tour fee. If you do cancel with at least 48-hours’ notice, though, there is no charge (and you can choose to change the time of your tour if desired)
  • Pink Jeep Tours is committed to reducing their carbon footprint: thus, tour vehicles are filled, and unless you’re a large party, there will be other people on the tour with you. Many passengers write rave reviews about the opportunity for bonding with others, however!

    • Good question. They do not have bathrooms on the Pink Jeeps. They make several stops throughout the day at locations which have restrooms. They highly recommend using the restroom prior to your departure as well.

    • Hi Michael. I’m guessing that you are taking the West Rim full day tour. They pick up at the Main Valet at the Palace Station for most tours including yours. Click on any of the green “buy it now” buttons to check exact prices and purchase the tour through Papillon. It’s the same tour, you just pay less. I just checked the price for a tour on Dec 30 and Papillon charges $179 for the tour. If you book directly with Pink Jeep, it will cost $250.

  2. We booked a Grand Canyon tour with viator and upgraded to the pink jeep tour on the south rim, we had the most amazing experience and it was certainly worth the extra money… We had the most spectacular and wonderful guide called Ted Riley who drove the jeep and explained everything about the Grand Canyon, the history and more… He took pictures and made the experience even more fantastic, thank you so much Ted for our wonderful time xx

    • Hi Anna,

Both are great but there is a trade off to think about. The West Rim is spectacular and it is a much shorter drive, meaning that you should get a little extra time to enjoy the views. The South Rim, while a longer drive will give you the expansive views that you see in all the famous pictures. There are also more things to do there, more restaurants and souvenir shops.

  3. My husband and I will be staying at the Bellagio first time visitors in November I was told that the pink hero tours pick you up at your hotel and drop you off is this true? What would be the best tour for first time visitors?

    • Pink Jeep tours picks up from Bellagio for it’s tours to the Grand Canyon. The two most popular choices are the West Rim tour and the South Rim tour. The South Rim Tour gives you bigger and more iconic spectacular views though it is a much longer trip. The West Rim, gives great views too and is much closer to Las Vegas. Papillon offers the same tours for less money.
