Grand Canyon Adventures – Flagstaff

Since 2013 Grand Canyon Adventures has been offering small-group tours that depart from Flagstaff, Arizona, and take visitors to a variety of the region’s most acclaimed sites and iconic attractions. Their single-day tours are terrific ways to see a great deal of the remarkable beauty of this special area. Most tours are conducted by coach; however, certain tours also include brief helicopter rides—these airborne excursions make for incredibly memorable additions to any tourist outing.

Popular Grand Canyon Adventures Tours

Grand Canyon Adventures offers comprehensive day-long tours of several iconic Southwestern locations. Highlights include day tours of the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, and the lovely town of Sedona, Arizona. With the exception of Grand Canyon Adventures’ priciest option—its special multi-day tour—the majority of its tours run anywhere between $120 and $200 per person.

Grand Canyon Day Tour

This single-day tour of the Grand Canyon begins at 8:30am and ends at 5:00pm. It costs just under $150 for adults, and nearly $120 for children. The tour routinely makes stops at anywhere between 6 and 8 different viewpoints along the South Rim. A picnic-style lunch is included, and the day concludes with an optional stop at a Navajo trading post.

Antelope Canyon Day Tour

This guided tour of Lower Antelope Canyon runs approximately $200 for adults, and just under $180 for children. The tour begins at 8:30am, concludes at 6:00pm, and makes stops at Antelope Canyon, the Glen Canyon Dam Visitor Center, Lake Powell, and Horseshoe Bend.

Sedona Tour

This is a very unique tour of Sedona. Running from 8:15am to 4:30pm, it has a little bit of everything: over the course of this single day you’ll travel by coach to a number of the area’s famous Red Rock viewpoints; have time to shop the quaint shops of downtown Sedona; and enjoy a 12-15 minute helicopter ride over the city and its famous surroundings. Reservations run approximately $190 for adults, $170 for children.

Multi-Day Tour

This four-day, three-night Southwestern tour extravaganza is quite pricey—but if you have the time, money, interest, and inclination, Grand Canyon Adventures’ multi-day tour makes for a special trip. Approximately $1700 per person, this price includes all lodging, meals, entrance fees, and extracurricular activities. Along the way you’ll see the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Monument Valley, and Sedona—while also going whitewater rafting, airborne in a helicopter, and riding along in open-air jeeps for stretches at a time.

Things to Know & Insider Tips

  • The peak of tourist season near the Grand Canyon tends to fall between March and September. During this stretch of the year, tours tend to fill-up in a hurry; if you are interested in one of Grand Canyon Adventures’ outings during peak season, it is recommended you make your reservations 4 to 6 months in advance.
  • Even though all Grand Canyon Adventures tours depart from Flagstaff, in certain circumstances they will pick up groups of 5 or more from Sedona. If this would be relevant/helpful for you and your group, make sure to inquire for more details at the time you make your reservation.
  • If you need to cancel your reservation(s), make certain to do so at least one week in advance of your tour in order to receive a full refund—that’s the cancellation policy for Grand Canyon Adventures.
  • Even though Grand Canyon Adventures provides plenty of snacks and waters on each of their tours, you’ll still want to make sure to bring such personal supplies like sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Comfortable shoes are always a good idea, too.
  • The price of your Grand Canyon Adventures tour ticket does not include any sort of gratuity. If you have a positive experience during your excursion, it is considered customary to tip your guide approximately 20%.

Is Grand Canyon Adventures for You?

Grand Canyon Adventures has a sterling reputation for providing fun, informative, and memorable tours throughout scenic Northern Arizona. Their guides are known for being energetic, accommodating, and highly knowledgeable about this very special region. One drawback for some travelers will be that they only run their tours out of Flagstaff. However, for those visitors who do not find that to be a logistical problem/challenge, Grand Canyon Adventures is a terrific option. Their tours are thorough, well-organized, and for the most part comparable in price to various other companies in the area.
