Sundance Grand Voyager Exclusive Tour Details
This 6.5-hour adventure is the ultimate in experiencing the Grand Canyon. Combine a helicopter ride, riverboat ride, walking tour, and more all into one amazing package, and you have the Grand Voyager Exclusive. Begin with hotel pickup (available from most Vegas hotels), then enjoy a 45-minute flight out to the Grand Canyon aboard an Airbus helicopter. Along the way to the Grand Canyon you’ll get to enjoy sights of the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, ideal for aerial photography. Then, descend into the canyon and board a pontoon boat, which will float you down the Colorado River for about 15 minutes to give you an on-the-ground perspective on the rock formations. Next, you’ll re-board the helicopter for flight to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon, part of the Hualapai Reservation which includes many popular sights like Eagle Point, Guano Point, and the famed Skywalk (available for an extra fee). Then, return via helicopter to Las Vegas and see the Strip illuminated – more excellent photo opportunities!
Sundance Helicopters Grand Voyager Exclusive Highlights
Hoover Dam: Soar over this fascinating man-made structure and truly appreciate its grandeur from your aerial view. This is a great way to see the dam without the hassle of driving out to it yourself.
Lake Mead: This idyllic reservoir is actually a massive man-made lake, created by the damming of the Colorado River via the Hoover Dam. Keep an eye out for wildlife and plantlife that depend upon the water for survival
Colorado River & Boat Ride: This magnificent river is exhilarating in certain sections, but you’ll get to enjoy floating along a peaceful segment of the river during your 15-minute pontoon-boat ride. Get unique perspectives on the rock formations around you, and be sure to look ahead to see how far the river really goes!
Grand Canyon West: Spend time hovering over the Grand Canyon, just below the rim, and then land in the Canyon itself, 4000 feet below the rim. You’ll get a wide variety of views from which to take photos, and plenty of sights to inspire you.
West Rim: Because of Sundance Helicopters’ important relationship with the Hualapai Tribe, you actually have the opportunity to land in the protected lands of the West Rim and explore their many viewpoints and attractions, including Eagle Point, Guano Point, and the Skywalk. Here, you’ll also get to enjoy a buffet lunch.
Las Vegas Strip: Head back to Vegas later in the day, at which point you’ll sail over many of the Strip’s highlighted attractions, from the Stratosphere to the Luxor and beyond. Keep an eye out for the Bellagio fountains, too!
Is the Sundance Helicopters Grand Voyager Exclusive Tour for You?
This tour is admittedly amazing. It includes so many different components and truly represents all that a Grand Canyon excursion from Las Vegas could offer. That said, the tour itself is pretty pricey, and requires a big commitment in terms of budgeting. It’s also a significant investment of time: you’re spending more than 6 hours on this tour from start to finish, making it hard to really do anything else that day. You should also keep in mind that in the event of heavy rains or high water, the pontoon boat portion of the trip may be cancelled. If you’ve got your heart set on that segment of the tour, monitor the weather. Finally, it’s helpful to note that the Skywalk attraction – which nearly everyone wants to do – is extra, so take that into consideration when budgeting.
