Grand Canyon West Zip Line Background

The Zip Line at Grand Canyon West is managed and maintained by the Hualapai Tribe. Since 1883 the Hualapai Reservation has been home to nearly 1-million acres of land set aside for the Hualapai people; in recent years, the Hualapai Tribe has opened Grand Canyon West on a portion of this land to serve as a tourist attraction for those individuals seeking to explore the less-traveled, but still-impressive, western edges of the Grand Canyon area.

The facilities at Grand Canyon West are most famous for their Skywalk feature—a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge that extends nearly 70 feet over the edge of the West Rim of the Grand Canyon, offering visitors an unforgettable vantage point from which to experience the dizzying heights of this major landmark. The nearby Zip Line provides visitors to Grand Canyon West yet another adrenaline-pumping perspective on this wonder of the world.

Grand Canyon West’s newest attraction, the Zip Line, features two distinct “quad zip lines.” This innovative design means that each zip line is actually made up of a series of four steel cables, one-after-another in a row. This makes it easier than ever for you to not only glide along through the air at a speed of almost 40 miles per hour, but to do so right alongside your family and/or friends. The first of these zip lines checks in at just over 1,000 feet long and goes over a small canyon. It’s a great warm up run. The second goes over a deeper canyon lets you travel some 2,100 feet.
